ProBionic was formed in 2000 as an independent venture company by Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB) to promote the commercialization of Institute inventions through licensing of technology and holds a National Research Laboratory (NRL) on molecular microbial ecosystematics authorized by the Korean Government.

The proBionic is dedicated to become a global leader in the research and development of biotechnologies designed to discover and apply new microorganisms and genes from diverse sources including human, animal, plant and environmental sources. ProBionic executes a fully integrated approach, in the development of novel microorganisms and biologically active compounds, such as new functional probiotics and small biomolecules.

Our platform technologies facilitate the optimization of novel microorganisms and genes found in nature to enable product solutions for the Dermo-cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food industrial, environmental, and agricultural markets. ProBionic is targeting key multi-billion dollar segments where the company believes its technologies and products will create high value and competitive advantages for strategic partners and customers.

Since our founding in 2000, proBionic has emerged as a leader in the molecular systematics of microorganisms for the creation of improved new functional probiotics and microbial products. For example, we contributed the largest share in the world of the industrial starters for Kimchi fermentation. Recently, we completed the development of the functional plant origin Latobacillus sakei probio 65 whose phase III study was completed for the atopic dermatitis. We have a strong pipeline of potential products including personalized medical healthcare in commercial market. In addition to that, our high-quality products have been directly provided to our customers through the internet shopping malls, www.probio65.co.kr and www.probio.co.kr. Our strategic partners and major customers are market leaders including Daesang FNF, Pulmuwon Co., Cargill Purina Inc., CJ Corp., Theragen Bio Institute, and Genomictree Co. We are also looking forward to the promising results obtained in the production of bio-energy through the utilization of algae as our venture in future.
